What it is — and isn’t. This is not XP’s flagship: the Deus II remains the top of the range. The ICON X is the accessible route into the same FMF and wireless engineering, aimed at detectorists who found the Deus II’s price or complexity a step too far.

First weeks in the field. Handling is classic XP — light, balanced, quick to recover. IDs on our test ground were stable and the learning curve is noticeably gentler than its big brother’s.

Why the early-verdict tag. Scores on new releases firm up after a season of customer feedback, firmware updates and hard weather. We would rather hold at 4.2 and be right than headline-score a honeymoon.
